3-Days Tour from Ouarzazate to Erg Chegaga Itinerary:

1st Day: Ouarzazate – Erg Lihoudi Dunes:

Begin your Ouarzazate to Erg Chigaga desert tour with a departure from your hotel. Your driver will pick you up in a 4×4 air-conditioned car. You will travel over the Anti-Atlas Mountains and via the Tizi-n-Tinfifite pass to Agdz. Here, stop for a tea or a coffee break. Shortly after, you go off-track through the Dra Valley’s palm groves and fortified kasbahs.

Visit Kasbah Tamnougalt with a local guide. This is the oldest kasbah in the valley and is still partly inhabited. Next, drive along the ancient road of the caravans as far as Zagora, which will be the venue for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the pottery local workshops and learn how to make your favourite pottery item.

Driving further south, you arrive at M’hamid which marks the start of the desert. Here, an hour’s camel ride leads to the top of the dunes of Erg Lihoudi. After you check in to your tent, enjoy a relaxing glass of tea and the first vibes of the desert.

Then, climb up to the summit and witness the spectacle of the sunset. At night, taste dinner under the Saharan sky and immerse yourself in the desert. Share an evening of singing and dancing with the nomads. Later at night, your private nomad tent offers night rest.

2nd Day: Erg Lihoudi Dunes – Erg Chagaga Dunes:

If you get up early in the morning and climb up to the summit of the dunes, you will be rewarded with an amazing spectacle of the sunrise. After breakfast, there will be time to walk around the dunes, then return to M’hamid, which for lunch, will be on camelback.

In the afternoon, we depart to the wild and remote dunes of Erg Chagaga. Enjoy a 65Km of off-track driving through the different features of the great Sahara Desert; ‘Erg’, dunes, ‘Reg’, rocky desert, ‘Hammada’, flat ground, and oases. Here at Erg Chagaga dunes, a camel ride will lead to the summit of the highest (300 m) to experience moments of pure tranquillity and an awesome sunset.

At night, dinner will be served under a sky lit by millions of stars, followed by an evening of nomad music and drumming and an overnight sleep in a nomad private tent in a desert camp in the wildest and largest Sahara Desert in Morocco.

3rd Day: Erg Chagaga Dunes – Ouarzazate:

If you get up early in the morning and climb to the top of the dunes, you will be rewarded by a spectacle of the sea of sand and the sunrise is awesome. After breakfast, our journey continues from Erg Chagaga desert to Ouarzazate through another 95km of off-track driving through varying features; wind-blown dunes, dry Iriqui Lake, where you can search for fossils, and mountains.

In Forum Zguid, the first town after the desert, there will be an opportunity to take a shower to freshen up and to have lunch. Back on the paved road again, we drive through the village of Taznakht, where you can stop to learn about Berber rugs and carpets, and perhaps purchase one if desired.

By the end of the day, we arrive back at Ouarzazate. Your driver will escort you to your hotel to mark the end of your Ouarzazate to Erg Chigaga desert tour.
