What you can expect on a 3-day private tour from Rabat to the Sahara Desert of Merzouga and Marrakech

Day 1: Rabat – Midelt – Merzouga Desert

We’ll pick you up from your riad/hotel, then head south to Midelt through the Middle Atlas Mountains. On the way, we’ll stop at the palm grove to see the palm trees in the wild. Passing through the Tizi Ntalghamt and along the magnificent Ziz Gorge, carved out of volcanic rock, you’ll see views of the Middle Atlas plateau, and the landscape will change to reveal hints of the desert as we approach the town of Errachidia.

After lunch, we continue our journey through the Ziz Valley towards Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga. After a glass of mint tea, we’ll leave our luggage in a secure room and then take a camel ride to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi dunes, the highest sand dunes in North Africa.

The camel ride takes around 1 h 30 to the camp, where we set up Berber tents for our night in the desert. The tents are well-equipped with mattresses, blankets, and cushions. After dinner, we’ll gather around the fire and enjoy the sound of traditional Berber drums under the 1001 stars. 1st tour from Rabat to Merzouga.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert -Bomalen Dades – Marrakech

After breakfast, we drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. The road through the Dades Valley, the route of a thousand Kasbahs, offers many photo opportunities. We visit the Valley of the Roses and the village of Skoura, then continue on to Ouarzazate, “Africa’s Hollywood City”. Lunch takes place at the famous kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the largest kasbah in Morocco.

After visiting this UNESCO World Heritage site, our journey continues over the majestic Tizi nTichka pass, reaching an altitude of 2260m, above the High Atlas Mountains. Day 3: Marrakech – Rabat
