The 3-Day Tour From Agadir to The Merzouga Sahara Overview:

3 Days Tour From Agadir to Merzouga with camel trekking. Merzouga is a small town out on the edge of the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi. Merzouga is only 20 km away from the Algeria border where the paved road ends and the real Sahara Desert sand dunes begin. Merzouga desert is the most commun point of Morocco Camel treks and Bivouacs.

To experience the Sahara desert dunes it is a must to take a camel trip and stay overnight in a Berber tent or in a luxury camp. The camel trip takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes through amazing red-orange sand dunes at sunset to reach the Sahara desert camp where you will be served local nomad dinner in the desert tent.

But note it is at least a ten hours drive from the Erg Chebbi dunes to Marrakech. The trip is possible in 3 days however we recommend a slow pace over 4 or 5 days.

A Top 3-Days Tour From Agadir to Sahara desert Itinerary:

Day 1: Agadir – Taznakhte – Draa Valley – Agdez

Our driver or guide will meet you in Agadir at the chosen location. Our plan is to reach the town of Agdz where you will overnight. On the way, we pass through the saffron capital called Taliouine and the town of Tazenakht where some of Morocco’s finest rugs are made.

We can make some stops to visit and take photos. The road meets the Draa Valley and from there we continue into Agdz and your accommodation.

Day 2: Agdez – Rissani – Merzouga – Camel

Trekking and Night in the desert In the morning, after breakfast, we continue our 3-day tour by crossing from west to east over vast open landscapes with sculptured mountains. We also pass through traditional Ksour or villages with kasbahs. Nkob for example is said to have 45 kasbahs.

After Alnif, we reach the market town of Rissani where we stop to have lunch, the local speciality is a stuffed pizza called Medfouna which is delicious. After lunch, we turn south and continue till we reach the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi and meet our camels. Hopefully, the sunset will be spectacular as you ride off to reach your camp.

Dinner and music around a campfire will be waiting for you as well as the welcome mint tea.

Day 3: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate

In the early morning, you will be woken to get up and watch a desert sunrise and after breakfast, take the camel ride back to meet your transport. Today you will experience some of Morocco´s most amazing sights on your way to Ouarzazate. We pass through desert villages full of adobe houses and traditional lifestyles, pass great oases of palms and enter the Dades valley.

From Tinghir, we take the road that leads to the Todra Gorge a 300-metre-high canyon that splits the mountain apart. At its feet, crystal clear waters run, giving life-giving water to the nomads that come with their donkeys. On the way back to the valley we stop to admire the many adobe buildings in the oasis.

Next, we take the road that winds up into the Dades Gorge, here you will see very old kasbahs and unusual rock formations known as the monkey fingers; you will see why. Returning down to the Dades Valley we take the road that passes through the Roses valley where the Damascus roses are grown for their precious oil. The road continues to reach the Hollywood of Africa Ouarzazate where we end our 3-day tour.
