Tour Itinerary: Best Essaouira to Fes Tour 4 Days
DAY 1: ESSAOUIRA - MARRAKECH -AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH – OUARZAZATE
Today we leave Essaouira at 8:00 in the morning and will cross Marrakech, and we travel to Ouarzazate through the astonishing landscapes of Tizi n’Tichka road. We will have a lunch break at the Kasbah of Telouet.
Then, we will continue our trip toward Ait Ben Haddou. Ait ben Haddou and Ouarzazate are famous filming sites that can be recognized from movies such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and so on.
DAY 2: OUARZAZATE – TODGHA GORGES – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA DESERT
Early in the morning, we will leave Ouarzazate and head toward Merzouga. But before that, we will visit The Kasbah of Taourirt. Then, we will pay a quick visit to the Rose Valley and Dades Valley. Afterward, we will stay a little bit at Toudra Gorges and have lunch thereafter we will enjoy taking a walk across the narrow canyons.
Then, we will get to Erfoud via Tinjdad, which is situated in an area where there are a lot of fossils. At Merzouga, we will leave our car behind and ride the camels toward Erg Chebbi Dunes. After we admire the amazing sunset over a high dune, we will head to the desert camp to spend the night there with the band of nomad musicians in their tent.
Day 3: Merzouga – Sahara Desert – Camel Trek
After breakfast in your riad, you can take a little exploration of the local area before the start of your camel ride You will visit the Gnawa people – originally from Mali, Senegal, and Sudan – in their village Khamlia, where you will learn about their music and their lifestyle. later, we will drive to the desert area to meet nomad families to explore their way of life.
Today our lunch will be a traditional Berber meal (Berber pizza). you will have the option also to visit the old city of Rissani – the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty – the current ruling royal family in Morocco. Rissani is surrounded by about 360 ksars (a fortified village with many towers) and has a big souk (an open market), held three times a week.
Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Tombouctou in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables, and clothes.
Drive back to the village of Merzouga. In the afternoon, you will ride your camel, guided by an experienced camel man to explore what is hidden in the middle of the highest dunes in Morocco with the opportunity to watch the sunset… Dinner and overnight at Berber camp in Erg Chebbi dunes – Merzouga.
DAY 4: MERZOUGA – ZIZ VALLEY – MIDELT – CEDAR FOREST – AZROU – IFRANE – FES
This day after we have our breakfast, we will leave the desert, and travel on our Casablanca Desert tour through the region of Tafilalt and the Atlas Mountains.
After a quick lunch stop at the apple town Midelt, we will visit the Monkeys of the cedar forest near Azrou and we will stop again at Ifran. Later in the afternoon, we will arrive at Fez where we will have an overnight stay at a local Riad in the Medina.
